At the end of Matthew 7 Jesus compared the durability of a house built upon sand to a house built upon rock. One would survive a storm while the other would not. In Matthew 8 Jesus actually leads His disciples into a storm. They were where they were supposed to be, doing what they were supposed to do, in the company they were supposed to be with , but they were terrified and in fear for their lives. Some lessons may only be learned through storms. Jesus may send us to scary places but He never bids us go alone. The disciples feared that Jesus did not care but they discovered that He was actually more powerful than the storm. He could desmiss the storm because He designed it. The disciples asked a question we all must ask when faced with the story of Jesus of Nazareth. What kind of man is this who can actually command wind and waves?
